Design Assistant | Pyrmont, NSW
We are looking for Design Assistants to join our In-Season Design team! We are looking for an individual who wishes to build their design career with our amazing brands. These are entry level design-based positions and will see you play a key support and administrative role across the team. We currently have opportunities across various categories and contract types.
Reporting to the Designer you will support in driving key looks, contributing to the creative direction, implementing, and executing seasonal assortment plans and design briefs. Your focus is ensuring the Hanesbrands customer is considered first, with the product ranges built around the brand aesthetic.
Tell me more about your Design Team!?
Our Design team focuses on living and breathing everything our customers adore us for! In this department you will be working at a fast pace, keeping up to date with trends, forecasting the latest and greatest products and supporting in designing high volumes of options to delight our customers. If you love to be creative and you are a colour and print enthusiast this could be the role for you!
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with colour and textile print developments.
- Prepare work requests for new style prototypes, development packs and Tech Data sheets
- Liaise with garment technicians on work requests and follow up on sample developments
- Complete small design projects under the guidance of your Manager
- Use creative forecast services, magazines, colour authorities, websites, and market analysis to assist in providing information for trend directions, story boards and project work
- Collaborate and develop strong relationships with cross functional teams
- Prepare quality presentations and sales tools for internal range showings, sales conferences, retail range showings
Essential for your success is:
- A degree in Fashion and Textile Design or a related field - essential
- Proficient use of Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop programs – daily use the Adobe programs mean you must be a super savvy user
- Ability to translate a brief into a design concept and an understanding of commercial considerations when designing product – this is an opportunity to learn how we do things, but you must have a strong appreciation for how to make it happen in reality
- Innovative and creative approach to design – goes without saying but we are looking for a true creative
- Inspirational team player capability – when a job needs doing, you'll make sure it gets done taking the team on the journey!
- Strong written and verbal communication talents and exceptional time management and organisational skills … without them you will be lost!
